Trane Technologies, a global climate innovator, is supporting our research group's work on electric motors that actuate radial shaft forces (commonly referred to as a bearingless motor). Our team is studying how this technology can improve oil-free centrifugal compressors for HVAC chillers.

Bearingless motors has been a long-term focus area for our research team. We have been developing early-stage ideas into progressively more refined and practical motor technology and are excited about this opportunity to explore applying our technology to a real-world system.
