The Electric Machinery and Levitation Laboratory (eLev) is pleased to announce a new research collaboration with MagLev Aero, supported by a NASA SBIR Phase I award.

The project, titled "HYDRATE: A Zero-Emission Direct Drive Parallel Hybrid Turbofan for Personal Jets," focuses on advancing propulsion architectures for the next generation of sustainable aviation.

The eLev team will leverage its expertise in electric machine analysis to support MagLev Aero in this effort. Our specific role involves identifying novel electric machine concepts, conducting design studies, and performing in-depth electric motor optimization to maximize performance and efficiency for this advanced propulsion system.

We are excited to contribute to the future of zero-emission flight alongside our industry partners.

This work is supported under a NASA Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) contract. Any opinions, findings, and conclusions or recommendations expressed are those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the views of NASA.
